Companies have been trying to use Twitter to provide market research information for years. However, with millions of tweets a day, researchers were having a hard time harnessing and analyzing all of the tweets associated with their market. Twitter is now helping companies by selling them tweets starting from 2010. Companies such as DataSift, which has partnered with twitter, will use the data to for market research and for analyzing consumers. Deleted tweets will not be analyzed. Twitter is generally a public forum, so it is likely that Twitter's selling of tweets will not violate any privacy rights.
