I think that she has a lot of issues to deal with before she can fully understand the role of a woman let alone "Mahalia". When she fully understands GODS role in her life then things will begin to happen for her.

I have come to believe that unless there is a serious overhaul in communication, personal things(baggage) that we bring into the marriage has to be changed. We do not take marriage seriously because we think itis a game just something to do. There is so much work that needs to be done before we marry; however, no one wants to put in the work. Well ladies and gentlemen, it's time to overhaul the institution of marriage. What are you gonna do or what can we do as a whole to change this??? I believe in the institution of marriage. The question is do you????  less

I think that we don't understand the depth of what that means when we say it. However, I have never been married so I really don't have marriage experience. But I look at my grandparents who have been married over 50 years and they show me that marriage takes true love, commitment and perseverance. Hopefully, I can be like them one day.

I agree that the institution of marriage does need a serious, serious overhaul. Communication is very lacking. The personal things, that is the "baggage" need to be discussed, mentioned, brought out into the open. Whatever it is does not need to be a surprise after the wedding. Imminent doom would be the results. Also, couples really need to examine the personalities of the person to whom they are involved with. If you have any inkling of something not feeling right, then couples should step back, wait, and investigate before taking the relationship any further. Be careful not to step into a hole that you will have a hard time climbing out of. If it doesn't feel right, chances are that your gut feeling is right. Marriage should be "until death do us part". However, it should have a good and honest start.  less

What about African, Caribbean, Latin and Afro-European literature? Our experiences will be always be limited if we take on the attitude of, nothing exists beyond our shores. Africans all over the world have so much to learn from and teach to, one another. First we'll have to acknowledge that we all fall under the category of Africans and we have to accept our family on the continent and the rest of the world and they'll have to accept us. There is an amazing amount of art being created all the time by US but if WE don't recognize it then we're losing our legacy. We all have to make more effort to develop ways to exchange and promote African arts among our fellow Africans and the rest of the world if we want to see our artists gain the recognition that they deserve.  less
